Councillors’ Corner #10 | DA’s Zerwick accounts for JB Marks’ Ward 4

Political parties are actively launching their manifestos, while citizens continue to apply for special votes ahead of the Local Government Elections in just over a month’s time.
In this week’s edition of Councillors’ Corner, Digital News Producer Lebo Tshangela speaks to the Democratic Alliance’s (DA) Ward 4 Councillor in North West’s JB Marks Municipality, Johan Zerwick.
His ward covers residential, industrial, and institutional sectors across Potchefstroom and the Ikageng Township.
Zerwick has openly described his experience in the municipality as negative.
He says, “JB Marks is run by a coalition between the ANC, PA and EFF, and the DA and the Freedom Front Plus are the oppositions in council and what is very shocking to me is my ward, Ward 4 is part of a township and part of a town. Look Extention 9 is a squatter area…some informal houses, it was was shocking to me that even though I see the needs of the people and the way they are living, I cant do anything about it.”
